Our friends had a child waitlisted at a local school and then we were strongly encouraged to apply after the deadline. Basically, their very sweet child is not super bright and the school was waiting to see if anyone better came along, but the class was also not full. Ultimately about a month later our friend’s child got admitted off the wait list. It’s a kind of crappy thing that can happen…
