What does it mean? They weren’t able to fill slots? Are limited slots more competitive than a regular cycle? |
All privates leave spots open for kids coming on family moves from reputable privates in other cities. |
Just reputable privates? |
Which ones have open spots? We are coming for a family move and need one. |
We got into and accepted such a spot. We were already local, no move involved, but we explained the reason for our late application. I assume they were just more excited about our overall student and family profile than some of their declines or (I assume) waitpool candidates. |
I think the only way to know is to start calling and asking. |
It means that your child has something that they felt was missing from that class. |
May I ask what rationale you provided? |
I know my kid’s class has a spot because one student recently decided not to reenroll (later than the usual deadline) due to a move. |

Code for families with $$$$ and kids that are not problematic additions |
No, just kids who are a good fit who through no fault of their own had to move. |
Some schools have said they'd leave an empty seat before admitting a student they felt could not manage the curriculum. And they can afford to do that. Similarly, they will add space for a student who is a good fit no matter when they apply. Usually these schools advertise having rolling admissions. |
What's a problemmatic addition? |
When someone says "code for ...." you can assume they don't know what they are talking about. |
