So are avocado palm/finger cuts from getting out the pit. I was told this by ER doc when I was having my own injury from that source stitched up.

Yeah I teach my kids to tap the avocado pit on the cutting board, like starting cutting a lot. The knife sinks in and holds and you just pull out the pit.

I don’t know. Unless you are COMMITTED to ALWAYS wear the gloves (what about when you travel or help at a friends house) I think you could easily develop unsafe habits.

Better to take a few seconds to pull on the gloves than making fingertip salad.

Totally counts! Especially if someone besides you left the freezer door open.

Because no professional chef EVER cuts or burns their hand!

Nearly sliced the tip of my pinky off slicing eggplant straight from the garden. Had just sharpened the knife. They tried to use the glue but it wouldn't stop bleeding - 8 stitches and a permanent scar

Grated my thumb. That peeled skin took waaay longer to heal than a clean cut.

Chemical burn from making a huge tray of jalapeño poppers for a party. I always wear latex gloves now when preparing any hot peppers

Not food but cut the skin off a knuckle trimming my mother’s Mother’s Day flowers, with her kitchen shears. Spent the afternoon together at urgent care in an I Love Mom tshirt. Think we got carry out in the way home. I was 38.
