Not the OP but this is helpful. I’m taking it for diabetes and wondering what happens when I lose enough weight but still need to be on it for diabetes. |
I worried about this a LOT before I started. I didn't want to commit to a medicine for life, or risk regaining weight.
What I didn't anticipate is how GOOD the medicine makes me feel. The quieting of the food noise is a godsend. I feel like a different person. Now that I'm on them, I never want to stop taking these meds. They feel like mental health treatment to me. I probably could figure out a maintenance plan, but it would be hard work, constant vigilance and will power. With wegovy I feel like I will just be relaxed, healthy, and happy. Why would I ever not choose that? |
Are you at your goal weight yet? |
No, I'm about 25 lbs down with 35 to go. I've been on it for 4 months and still on 0.5 mg. Maybe I'll change my mind! I'm just adding in another perspective. I feel great taking this medicine and have no interest in going back to my old self. I feel like my brain was broken and now it's fixed. |
Same. I’m down almost 60 pounds and plan to be on Mounjaro through end of 2024 |
Given that these drugs treat having hunger disproportionate to a healthy body weight, I don’t know why anyone would choose to invite back a hunger stronger than that supportive of a healthy body weight. It makes me think people worried about lifetime use don’t really understand what the drug is treating. |
That's great! |
one worry I have is that insurance will stop covering it after a certain period of time. Even with coverage, Ozempic will be $500/month for me and Mounjaro is not covered at all. |
+1 your sentiments exactly. I’m down 22 pounds, have 20 to go, and am on 0.5. I feel…normal in my brain. |
I agree with the PPs, in terms of changing my hunger level it’s been amazing. Because of side effects, I’m on a low dose. So I still have to eat less than I want to, but it’s so, so much easier. I would be happy to stay on the low dose forever. It’s expensive (not covered for me because I’m only the high end of prediabetic) but it’s the best thing I’ve ever spent money on as far as health/wellness. |
Who prescribed for you? |
Sudden weight loss makes everyone look haggard. |
bumping this up. |
I’m on week 5. Just bumped up to .5 mg. I’ve had zero side effects, zero appetite suppression and zero weight loss. I’m feeling pretty bummed right now. |
