I'm looking for recommendations of well-researched and published investigations into these topics, not your personal two cents.

Why not we can say what we want--no one needs to participate in bothsides-ism

How much do you truly think you’ll learn when you’ve already made up your mind that no one’s truly at fault because both are equally at fault?

I wouldn’t know. I stopped watching TV and even though I am conservative, none of my friends are and we don’t talk politics. Give a try.

Yep! The USA is doomed. We over prepared during the Cold War and ignored our infrastructure. Then the left got out of control too.

A friend who feels similar to you recommended Chris Hedges’ books to me. I haven’t read any yet so I can’t directly comment, but you might find them worth a look.

We've been heading to hell since Roman times and that's not so long ago. Are we accelerating? We would have to have a time machine to find out.

Humanity did not have nuclear weapons until 1945, at which point the game changed. We will likely see nuclear weapons used by North Korea, by Russia in the Ukraine/Russia war, or by China when it invades Taiwan.

The trip to Hell will not be far after the first salvo.
