Is NoVa really more conservative than southern MD?

Nova is exactly like Maryland except replace 2/3 of the black people with asian people, add 15 Fortune 500 companies, and make county/state government function about 50% better.

+1. But also remove some of the Latino population — they exist still in a few spots in Nova like Bailey’s Crossroads, Richmond Hwy, etc but their population has gone way down in NoVa and Maryland’s has increased drastically over the past 10 years.

I also think NoVa does have more conservatives. In faiefax county no one is messing with you for having a Trump flag, and I just know more gun owner types in NoVa than in Pg / MoCo.

There's nothing conservative about NOVA... absolutely nothing. There may be a few northeast moderate Republicans left but they are dying off.

The Hispanic population in NOVA has not decreased. I don't know where you get that from. It has grown significantly.

Arlingtonians are DINOs. They call the police when they see a Black person in the Whole Foods.

Complete exaggeration.

No, not really. The staff was worried the Black person would steal something. The officer left after explaining he can't arrest people for shopping while Black.

If Trumpists are in charge trying to dismantle the administrative state and curtail voting rights, it swings deep blue.

If Democrats are in charge trying to dismantle zoning, ignore borders, and eliminate merit admissions, it swings back to the center.

So...it can "swing" from deep blue to ... center.

Not at all. It's just DC people pretend even a trip to the Pentagon City Mall or Alexandria is like driving all the way to Richmond. I took some DC friends to lunch in Lorton and they asked if gas was cheaper there since we were "so far out" of DC

I live in Charles County and it’s pretty solid blue. But once you cross that county line into St. Mary’s it starts to get a little Trumpy. I would even venture to say that once you leave La Plata ir gets a little Trumpy.

I find it VERY hard to believe that a presumably white police officer in Virginia left without looking very hard for SOME reason to arrest a Black man. The fact that he didn’t is inexplicable to me.

Should have clarified. The Hispanic population has grown significantly in PW (Woodbridge, manassas), but the relative Hispanic-ness of inside and just outside the beltway NOVA has gone down a ton. I remember when south Arlington, north Alexandria by del Ray and shirlington etc was Latino as hell, and now there’s a presence still in pockets but they have been gentrified out to the ‘Bridge and Mensasses in big numbers.

Well then you are probably young and ignorant.

Not so sure about that. There were 7021 Hispanic students in Arlington Public Schools in the fall of 2016 and 8262 Hispanic students in the fall of 2022. And the Hispanic population in Fairfax has only continued to grow as well.
