OP here, what is trashy about it? Our teens are 16, 15 and 13 |
Which part? It's a whole lot of suggestions in addition to the beach, of course. OP can take what sounds good and forget the rest. She said there is a whole group of them going. I'm sure some of these activities will appeal to various family members. OP, I forgot there is also a winery right near Cape May. Haven't been but supposed to be very nice. |
This is OP - I found the list very helpful for my group. Thanks for taking the time to share. |
Trust me, you don’t know Cape May County better than I do. And if you wanna talk “class,” then let’s: Ocean City is trash compared to Avalon, Stone Harbor and for that matter Cape May. It’s a middle of the road Cape May County shore town, and it’s certainly not worth schlepping all the way there from Cape May - 25 friggin miles - for their cheesy little boardwalk. Wildwood is the next town over from Cape May and its boardwalk is suitable for all ages - not just 8 year olds - and has the best rides around for teenagers. And don’t worry, the “working class” won’t hurt them either. 😂 |
Do NOT listen to the Ocean City poster and skip the Wildwood Boardwalk for the Ocean City Boardwalk if you have kids who are 16, 15 and 13. Wildwood is tailor made for them. It’s an absolute blast, the rides can’t be beat, it’s 1000 percent safe and good fun, and people watching is all part of the scene. Ocean City boardwalk will bore them faster than the drive it will take to get there. Guaranteed. |
The airport museum is surprisingly fun. Great if you have any small kids into planes. |
It just attracts a more partying/drinking crowd and lower income. It's also much bigger. Always had more action/incidents than other South Jersey shore towns (other than Atlantic City). It's a partying place. Ocean City, NJ is geared toward families. There are still rides and arcades and t-shirt stores and ice cream, etc. It's has its tackiness, too - it's a typical NJ boardwalk but it's calmer. Because it's a dry town, it doesn't attract the partiers. Overall, just a more pleasant place. You could do either but we much prefer Ocean City, NJ to Wildwood |
Well obviously we have different opinions. Whatever. I gave mine. You gave yours. OP can read more about them both and decide. Lots of YouTube videos and other descriptions online. Been spending my summers at the Jersey Shore since the early 70s from Atlantic City to Cape May. Family owned a condo there. Have a good night. |
This poster is a snob and a bore and is absolutely full of it when it comes to Wildwood. No one is drinking on the boardwalk for Pete’s sake! They don’t even sell alcohol anywhere on the boardwalk. There are no “incidents” on the boardwalk either. Comparing it to Atlantic City is ridiculous. What a nutty poster. |
Oh yeah? Well, I grew up there and my family still lives there. We didn’t just own a cheesy little condo. |
Yes, it’s also much bigger. Which is exactly why, if you have a 16, 15, and 13 year old, you don’t drive 20 miles further north to avoid it when all the fun you’re looking for is right next to Cape May. |
I worked at uncle bills!
Above posters flexing over cape may are embarrassing. |
I have family who lives in the area and I’ve spent time at most of the beach towns. Cape May is my fav, followed by OC. Wildwood is trashy. The rest are boring. I thought Wildwood was gross as a teen myself. But obviously it appeals to some people based on the crowds. |
No one is talking about whether Wildwood is a good place for a beach vacation. The focus of the discussion is which boardwalk is better for teenagers looking to have some fun. And the answer is obvious. Especially if you are in Cape May, there is no reason to go to the Ocean City boardwalk when Wildwood is right next-door and its amusements are much more geared towards teenagers than Ocean City’s. To advise 0P not to go to Wildwood solely because of what some of its patrons look like is disgusting. |
+1 My family (2 teens) loves OCNJ |
