You guys give bad advice

Instead wrote a nice professional last day note. Thanking everyone blah blah blah.

I got 27 -30 emojis and a few memes as the response from coworkers. No one wrote a written response.

Now I look like an old outdated dinosaur 🦕 with pleated pants and a double breasted suit!

2 jobs guy (you) gives bad advice.

Which of your 4 jobs did you quit?

You did the right thing, thanking those that work with you. There can be no ambiguity about that. That extra burden of making sure your message was exactly what you wanted to say is on you as the person who is leaving. I mean, you were asking for an "Office Space" meme. I don't recall any gracious Office Space memes. Thanking people and all that "blah blah" is about leaving well.

As far as how others responded to you, they acknowledged your leaving. You are gone as far as they are concerned. Why would you expect extra effort from them?

I don't get the problem. They don't think you are cool?

I quit my FinTech one, plus was “off-boarded” my other Private Equity job focusing on Banking as new jam. Boards need me to right this ship.

The recent financial crisis in banks is ripe for me to step in as fresh blood to clean house and throw around big words. I am a banking expert now.

No more crypto, cloud computing, Y2K, Options trading, SOX, International exposure, start ups, IFRS, large scale IT conversions, bankruptcies, mergers and acquisitions etc. I am on to the next crisis!! I just know CEO is next. Hoping at more than one firm.

Never waste a good crisis!! Every crisis I appear!! Got a million dollar check to fix Fannie Mae Freddie Mac!! Got 5 million fixing stock crash of 2000.

I say this backing crisis good for a few more million. No need for over employment. I got a crisis to work on!

Don’t quit your other jobs until you can afford better advice.

Honestly, every industry is different. Clearly, you knew your industry and your office better than we did. You can't come on here expecting tailored advice on your industry norms from people who aren't in your industry.

This. People who work in law firms, or federal government, or DOD contractors have different norms OP. That's a lot of us.

Were you leaving a job at the circus? Why would you put any meme in a goodbye email? Why even an email? At most a 3-4 line goodbye to a targeted list is the only professional answer here.

I’m 29 & my parents taught me to always give 2 weeks notice in writing, no matter what the job is. At my first job, which was at a chain restaurant, I gave 2 weeks notice via handing a note that I hand wrote to my manager.

OP I can’t imagine doing what you did.

Ah, sorry. I responded above you. Most of the people working here are in a different environment. You probably knew that.

I very specifically advised you to use the Half Baked “f you” meme. It’s not my fault if you didn’t take my excellent advice.

I actually gave three weeks notice. I even gave them a resume of someone to replace me. Really good. I still own around $100k to $140k of stock in the company and two weeks ago I worked all day Saturday and stayed up to 1 am on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday to finish up with owed. Was a pain as I worked all day at my new job then from 9pm to 1am finished up deliverables. Even 30 minutes before work and two days on my hot spot on my lunch break. I left it as clean as a 19 year old super models butt crack.

Turns out I got coded a “good leaver” which is RA (Regretted Attrition) I am eligible to return. Taking summer off from three jobs. Only one job. I get to be lazy like all the other lazy one job people.

Bullshit. The banking world isn't that big, and you can't bullshit your way into being a liquidity expert. Dumb story.

It's not too late for you to copy your a$$ on the xerox machine and distribute it with your Office Space meme that everyone has seen 1939499 times. Go for it.
