What I like about B&R is there hit the suitcase and it compacts immediately. This is bomb awesome! I can fit more in this than any other suitcase incl travelpro.
It is that amazing to me anyway. We only do carry ons and I need to max my ability to pack as much as possible - it's the only suitcase I can get 50L in - love the front umbrella pocket and that it's a flat interior to pack "cleanly." I only have one the rest of my fam has Delsey but I would not part with mine. I don't know it's worth it unless you're specifically looking for that kind of space otherwise however. I don't know it's that much better than other luggage but for space, hands down I accept the price for the value it gives me. |
I’m the travelpro platinum fan above, and I am not sure I fully understand your post (are you Australian?) but what model are you talking about? I am intrigued. |
| It's not worth it to me. I'm happy with my travelpro. Pre-pandemic I traveled weekly for most of the year and it held up well. I'm still using that carry on bag. I have coworkers who love their B&R bags though. It's just too expensive for me. I'd also prefer to just go to the closest department store and get a new bag if something happened to mine than ship it or take it somewhere special to be repaired by B&R. |
No. I went to a local repair store that B and R has a contract with. If you live in a big city, odds are this option will be available. |
It's luggage- it's built to be functional. I guess you might want better wheels or maybe lighter materials as technology advances? But in terms of style, can stick to black or dark grey (that's what I have) and I don't see how the styles can get updated. I kind of like having luggage that no one else has, tbh. Eagle creek is another company that has a lifetime warranty. I have a black messenger bag that converts to small backpack and that has an expanding front section that I had as a student. It isn't made anymore and I've sent it for repairs of buckles and zippers a few times now. It's more than 20 years old and is still one of my fave bags. |

OP here - I'm not Australian LOL I wanted to express how happy I am at their compression expansion - https://www.briggs-riley.com/collections/cx-compression-expansion I have this bag and I like the space it offers me because I pack it chock full and just press down and I don't have to worry about it being too big. All other bags I can expand sure, but it's not really compressed. I had a bag with a compression (like Away) board built in and actually hated it. It was easier just to pack full without it. I like this model as you don't actually have to worry about how you pack, it compresses for you automatically. EASY. |
| PP here - PS - I packed 12 days worth of clothes and 3 pairs of shoes in this thing to Europe.. I mean - I have no other bag that did this and again - if space is not an issue, it's less of a value but good god - I love this thing! I take the roller thing out I just don't need it so with that gone, and the umbrella front pocket, that's how I get so much in I think. |
| DH and I have a B&R 24" bag and I have a 19" carry on. We've had them for like 15 years. We have traveled a lot, DH way more than me and the only issue we have had is that the handle on my larger bag was dislodged from my bag while checked. Otherwise they have been awesome. They were much cheaper when we bought them. Looking at today's prices I'm not sure I would do it again. We also have a travel pro carry on and it has held up well, too. |
