Panera Bread - nasty or decent?

Anonymous
I don’t go out of my way to go there but if I’m nearby and need lunch or traveling the pick 2 with the green goddess salad and broccoli cheese soup is tasty and relatively healthy.

A lot of their food is not made on site, just shipped in frozen. Including all the bakery items, bagels, soups and mac and cheese. That said, I like the few items I've had there.

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who can't eat Subway due to the smell of the bread!

I get diarrhea everytime I eat there, so no more! It really went downhill.

To the PP- a mayo based dressing with a cheese based soup is hardly healthy.

I like the breakfast egg souffles.

I love their breakfast souffles. They are amazing. And their egg sandwich on brioche. Also great.

I like their tuna salad (which I am somewhat picky about) and the veggie sandwich. And the frontega chicken.

Also love their coffee - way better than Starbucks.

It's ok but definitely gone downhill. Won't go out of my way to eat there but will join my mom if she invites me. There are a few things that I like. My daughter likes the mac and cheese kids meal well enough.

OP, I like their Frontega Chicken too! I usually do Pick 2 with that and the Asian sesame chicken salad (or something like that; it’s been a while).

I like Panera but feel like it’s getting really pricey for basically a soup and sandwich.

Once upon a time it was the St Louis Bread Co…just in St. Louis . That’s when it was good.

It literally is hospital food. Bland as hell. Their breakfast sandwich is fine but it’s hard to screw up sausage, egg and cheddar on a fresh roll. Their drip coffee when fresh is actually solid too.

Overall I find Panera to be gross. About the only two items I like are the Frontega sandwich and Green Goddess salad. Oh, and I like their coffee. Most of their food is low quality (probably including my listed selections, but those are the ones I can tolerate). I don't get the LOVE for Panera.

An older lady went to the cook to complain her frontaga chicken was undercooked.
The cook said, lady how can I under cook it, I received everything in a bag already cooked and I only toast it for you.
She said Panera should be ashamed of themselves.

Have you eaten hospital food lately? My child was admitted and they sent us up meatloaf and mashed potatoes with gravy. The gravy had no salt in it, dear reader. It was the oddest experience my mouth has ever had, and that's saying something. Panera doesn't suffer from a lack of salt.

It was actually a really tasty sandwich and I like that they will put tons of fresh spinach on sandwiches for no extra charge. However, the bakery items look pretty gross. And the stores seem really weathered. I grabbed a small cup of coffee to go and it was actually pretty good drip coffee. I'm on the fence if I'll return anytime soon.

I do this also! I like that you can add spinach to that frontera chicken sandwich.

Panera and Chick-fil-a have both been phenomenal at convincing the public that their food is better than McDonald's/Burger King/Taco Bell.

Their advertising is really *chef's kiss*

I find most of Panera's food tasty but try not to eat it too often because it's loaded with sodium. Even some of their salads are deceptive. A whole Green Goddess salad has over 1000 sodium! (940 for salad & 160 for dressing). Adults should only have 2300 mg of sodium per day.
