Swimmers, do you give your coaches end-of-year gifts?

RMSC, our coaches email all the parents asking for a volunteer to collect gifts for them and get them a gift card. Twice a year. Summer swim, a parent organizes it at the end of the season.

Summer swim is rec and it is customary to give a gift or throw pooled cash.

Both are paid employees.

Club swim coaches appreciate gifts just like summer swim coaches. Neither makes a lot of money for the time they put in. It is customary to gift end of year gifts. Just because you don’t do it, doesn’t me it isn’t a nice thing to do.

Is it because RMSC’s fee is half of other clubs’ like NCAP and Machine?

We collect and pool donations for a cash gift for summer.

I used to get club coaches end of season gifts but now season never ends, lol. I think I will gift something to coaches when kid ages into the next group.

Why would that matter? I had two kids a club that charged over 5k a year and had parent volunteers organize coach gifts twice a year. Clubs are set up differently in how they are funded. RMSC appears to be publicly funded and charges fees to partially offset the costs.

How about headsets where he can talk to the swimmers in real-time at practice? https://watertalkieheadsets.com/

RMSC KSAC has almost always had a parent collect and then give a card and cash or GCs to the coaches. Coaches don’t ask for a volunteer, it’s a tradition that has been passed on and someone with older kids in the group typically collects or recruits someone else to.

I assume you’re looking for a gift for the coach, not one a coach could merely use. Our team uses them and the swimmers paid for their own. This is like giving school supplies to a teacher as an end of year thank you gift. People want gifts for themselves.
