If so, what does your swimmer usually give and how do they deliver the gifts? We have 3-4 coaches and normally 1-2 are there for each practice. It's possible that DC won't see some of them before the end of the season. Thanks! |
Hi Coach! What would you appreciate/like to see most? |
At our pool, people don’t do individual gifts. Someone volunteers to take up a collection that is used to buy gifts for the junior/senior coaches. Last year DC got a Visa gift card for around $200. FWIW, I don’t recommend the Visa gift cards. It was surprisingly difficult for DC to use it in a lot of places. |
^^^. That is summer swim. For club swim I’ve never heard of giving gifts to the coach(es). |
I’m assuming you are talking about club swim?
We usually give cash and a thoughtfully worded thank you card. We have a main coach and then an assistant coach who is not there all the time. We give $100 for the main coach and $50 for the assistant coach. |
Forgot to note that my kid swims 4-5 days a week. I would do less fewer days. |
Our booster club gives bonuses to the coaches. As a family with 2 swimmers, we also give gift cards ($25 to 4 part time coaches, $50 to assistant and head coach at Christmas and then $50/$100 after long course). I guess it would make sense to split it up by short course/long course, but I find it easier to keep at least one round of gifts on the school teacher gift schedule. |
For the RMSC Rays we don’t need to give our coaches a gift. We gift them with the glory of an undefeated season |
RMSC Rays??? I’ve never heard of an RMSC team with a name. Fo you mean the Rockville Rays? That MCSL. I think OP meant club swim. |
Club swim parent here. I have kids in two different groups. No gifts. |
I give the coaches an end of year gift (cash). |
I can’t believe there are parents who are not giving coaches gifts. Do you also not give your child’s teacher an end of year gift? |
Club swimming- if a parent organizes a team gift I always donate. If there isn’t a team gift, some years I’ve given and I’ve also skipped a year before. It will come down to how much my kid likes the coach and if they want to reach out and thank them specifically at the end of the year. |
Club swim you do not give gifts. They are paid employees and it is not a thing.
Summer swim is rec and it is customary to give a gift or throw pooled cash. |
I don’t think summer swim coaches are unpaid. We have belonged to three different club teams. All three organized teams gifts for the coaches at least once if not twice a year. Some parents also give their own gifts. |
