Dr. Thomas Stahl at Washington Hospital Center for a colorectal surgeon. I have Crohn's and he was my surgeon two months ago. He did an amazing job and was wonderful to deal with.

MGG is a mixed bag. I had horrible experiences with Dr. Howard but have now seen Widerlite a couple times and really like him. But he only pracctices in CC.

My husband has gone to Dr. Stafford Goldstein for colonoscopies. He has two offices - one in the offices near VHC and one in Annandale near Fairfax Hospital. He has been pleased with him.

I just had surgery with Dr. Lynda Doughtery at Fairfax Colon and Rectal. She is terrific and I would highly recommend the practice.

Let me be the third person to respond in the thread with highest praise for Dr. Thomas Stahl (Washington Hospital Center and Chevy Chase). He has wonderful skills and is INCREDIBLY compassionate and sympathetic (and I say that as someone with very high standards). I was VERY concerned about potential pain when he examined me and I told him so; he listened patiently to every word I said, reassured me that things were going to be OK, and kept his promise. I ended up going back to him for surgery and have been very happy so far with the results. You simply won't do any better than Dr. Stahl. The only drawback about him is that he gets booked up weeks in advance (probably because he's so popular), so don't hesitate if you want an appointment. And yes, he participates with BCBS.
