Bowser and Contee were on the same page. They both constantly fought the Council.

Who gets to hire the next chief? Does Bowser select and Council confirms? Will she have a hard time getting a decent Chief approved?

No, whoever Bowser appoints likely will sail through confirmation unless surprise character issues surface. The Council members will grandstand about their ridiculous, harmful stances on crime at the nominee's confirmation hearing, then vote to confirm. They always do.

Right. They will have to confirm the person.

I recall Contee having a beef with the federal prosecutors for giving criminals too many breaks. I wonder if he will be able to address that in his new role.

His role is more of a policy/federal initiative role. He will be informing resourcing police departments around the country with FBI support. Not a hands on/boots on the ground role. Which after 30 years plus in law enforcement is a good career move.

Yeah this must be a dream job for him. It’s well deserved. He worked hard for his city for 3 decades. It’s time for a great promotion.
