MCPS has both in person and virtual classes. Health Ed is a popular one.

Some private schools have them. Our experience was hit or miss with them.

This

My son is doing a bunch of coding/IT certification classes, same thing he did last summer. Some of it will be new some of it will be the next level/standard of certifications he received last year.

Would love recommendations for any coding programs - particularly in person opportunities beyond TIC Which don't work for us schedule wise...

Swim / tennis at the local pool - including coaching the youngest kids and then just hanging at the pool with friends for most of the rest of the day - for the first 5-6 weeks.
Sleepaway camp for the last 3 weeks.

It completely depends on the school/district. My kid did in-person PE during the summer session to get it out of the way.

2 weeks of Scout things (a camp and a trip), 1-2 weeks of vacation with family, and the rest working on merit badges and going to the pool with friends. Math tutoring and music lessons weekly.

Baseball, CIT, and vacation.

Rising 9th grader:

end of JUNE
1-2 weeks grandparents´ beach house

JULY
1 week travel tournament (futsal)
1–2 weeks: finish SSL hrs (MCPS)
1 week HS soccer prep camp

AUGUST
1 week soccer camp through club or private trainers
1 week family vacation

In between: Pool, friends, sleepovers, etc.

++ I like the idea others mentioned about taking a summer HS class and getting it out of the way (health etc.) — maybe next summer.

Spending 2 months in Europe. We have a base there, and will take shorter trips here and there. In between, probably pool, community service, maybe a week of camp. We’ll see, will be fun. We haven’t been able to do this in a while.

My kids' camp is about $2K/week once you factor in travel
