Holiday sides: multiple starches?

Anonymous
We are having multiple starches, multiple fruits, multiple veggies, multiple proteins, multiple desserts.

Probably shouldn't come to our house, OP.

For the big meals, we usually have three: bread, potato and something else like macaroni and cheese. We have multiple veggies and usually multiple proteins as well as some sort of a fruit salad. My parents were from the Midwest, but moved to New England, where my sister and I grew up. I have been in the DC area for my adult life. There were always multiple starches where ever I have prepared or attended for the big holiday meals. It is part of the holiday meal to have many different options for everyone. It is definitely not regional.

I usually do all starches and 1 veg, but no one eats the veg any way.

Same with us. We want to make sure everyone has food options they like.

Is it…regional? It’s not regional to be a good host, no.

When hosting a crowd, you provide enough food for everyone to find something they will enjoy.
