Did you find a new spot? We too love HHI and are considering a stay on Siesta Key/ Sarasota but are concerned about the vibe. Wet love the lush greenery and retreat from the sun.

Lewes, DE is nice- cute little town with several good restaurants, has a long bike path (nothing nearly as nice as HH paths but it's nice) but also has beautiful Hemloken State Park which has gorgeous trails and a nice beach

There is a Facebook group called Outer Banks Vacation Homes For Rent. If you post on there, with house size, location and the week(s) you are interested in people will reply with the their specific houses. If you aren’t a FB person go to VRBO to search for houses and then book with the agency directly.

We are going to Hilton Head for the first time over spring break. Any tips/tricks? I'm particularly curious about getting to/from the beach. We are staying by Shelter Cove.

This is a good area. AMI does get crazy traffic though during the busy season, and the beach can get packed. But the off season is glorious, and its not that far from the nice little downtown Bradenton waterfront area.

I'd add Sarasota and Long Beach Key to this general area as well. In fact, LBK beaches never ever get crowded simply due to how the island has been developed. I think they have some of the prettiest beaches in SWFL. And you're not too far from the quaint little town in AMI or Armands Circle shopping and eateries in Lido Key, or the arts scene in Sarasota.

It’s Longboat Key.
