“DC schools are crappy inmate factories.”

I'm sure not in every city in Alabama, which is a more accurate comparison to make.

There’s always an excuse for DC’s terrible schools, right?

DC spends more on schools than almost any place else — the schools are beautiful, teachers’ salaries are extremely high — and yet we’re at the bottom of the barrel in performance. Some of these schools are so bad you wonder if they should be closed.

The schools are beautiful? Maybe some of them. Ours has rats.

The expense higher because DC provides free preschool and low class sizes. It's not going to beautiful school buildings and cushy teacher salaries.

That entire hearing was an atrocity. It was like a race to the bottom for republican members. Listening to Lauren Boebert attempt a line of questioning about public urination actually hurt my brain.

Maybe go back to school and learn to spell "champagne"?

They’ve spent well over $100 million dollars renovating Roosevelt High School. That’s more than some school districts’ entire budgets.

Yes, there are issues with DC public schools but they’re really a result of systemic societal problems. There is so much segregation and income inequality in DC.

This is really it. You can pour money into the schools all you want, but it’s not going to change the home life of a huge number of students.

Low class size? Where is that happening? And this is why DCPS is a dumpster fire. Parents come up with a ton of excuses for the low performance in order to justify their continued dumping of the kids into the system. No accountability. Who cares who says it out loud? The truth is that DCPS schools are disgusting - if not for rats, overstuffed classes, lack of support for teachers and students, it could be high school school kids stealing from local stores. The press loves to distract with a story about some random congressman - but the truth is - DCPS is a failure.

Those things might be true for your school but DC public schools are not “crappy inmate factories.” I’ve been happy with the education my kids have received so far in DCPS.
