Sounds like a solution in search of a problem. Typical of Republican efforts at disenfranchisement, which are all attributed to phantom menaces like fraud and dead people voting.

It's always projection, always because looky here: https://www.rollingstone.com/politics/politics-news/the-villages-voter-fraud-1337352/

If they want me to vote in the town where my college is, then they need to give me in state tuition there, too. If I’m a resident for voting purposes, why is in state tuition based on where my parents live and where I lived for the 12 months before I stated college?

I lived in my home state for 2 months in freshman year and then for 1-2 weeks over winter break. Aside, I stayed in the state where my college was located year-round because I got jobs/internships. I was way more invested in the state where my college was located. I had no idea what was happening back home when it came to local elections.

Just saying.

I always kept up with what was going on at home and also knew and understood the history of events there, so I was always very well informed about who was running for local offices and who I supported. Did not have the same depth of knowledge about my college town.

And you were able to do so. My DS is very involved in local politics in his college town and that's where he votes.

I lived in my college town 11 months out of the year. I was a resident, obviously.

+1 so if the college student worked for those 11 months in that state and earned $20K, they wouldn't have to file taxes in that state? I'm thinking they would. So, the red state may want your taxes but don't want you to vote.

I think our ancestors rebelled over something similar.

I think the instate tuition thing is due to the amount of taxes you or your parents paid into the state. However, I don't necessarily agree with what these Rs are doing.

I posted up thread.. if you work in that state, wouldn't you pay income taxes to that state? So you pay your taxes there but you can't vote there?

If you don’t know the answer you are way too young to be posting here. Tell your mom and get back to TicTok

Right?

Red states are all about getting their hands on Blue state money, then telling us how to live our lives.

I live abroad. My college age son should be able to vote in the state where he will live 11 months of the year.

There are many, many reasons to never live in a red state.

+1 Too easy to vote twice in this country.

My college kid voted in the most recent election (Nov. '22) by absentee ballot.

Look up MIT voter fraud studies. It’s nonexistent.

Republicans don't let facts get in the way of a good story.
