One of the reason is WJ rezoning. Whitman is also part of boundary change, but only small change is possible there. WJ may become part of DCC or simply take 2 elementary schools from DCC. A much larger change is possible in WJ.

WJ will not become part of the DCC, I'd imagine some families who live closer to DCC school may land there, though. However, I think BCC may end up in the DCC since it was originally part of it until the parents complained but it is the most downcounty of all moco high-schools.[/q

NP- what does becoming part of DCC mean? I am contemplating moving to the BCC cluster. My kid would start at Westland MS this Fall. We could also move to Whitman cluster, but am looking for more economic diversity, but still want strong academics.

Whitman has stronger academics. I wouldn't worry about much outside of that.

BCC has the IB diploma program, which is not available at WJ or Whitman.

You are always paying for schools and WJ and WW are not considered similar as far as real estate and the overall perception. WW will always be superior.

We live in a neighborhood where the houses behind us go for $100-150K more for the same exact type of house. It has everything to do with Wootton vs Richard Montgomery

Wit man used to be the top of the top and all the other schools were well behind them. Those other schools have improved greatly over the years and it really comes down to what works best for your kid.

I went to Whitman when it was called the Super School and the other schools were not even close to it, today they are very close

Indeed. Wealthy schools have their own special problems related to too much wealth and privilege. I moved out of a very wealthy area out west. I didn't want my kids surrounded by kids from so many wealthy families. I didn't think it was healthy for them.

I think Whitman is more intense and the parents at Whitman cause the level of intensity. We chose WJ to dial it down a little bit and we are very happy with the school. I wish it were smaller though!
