We loved Harry’s and totally miss it. I think it was the next corner down - where colony grill is now. |

Was it a chain? I think there used to be a Harry's Tap Room at the corner of 13th and L Street, NW, downtown. Near the WaPo building. I really loved that space -- it was a sunken dining room and they had a good bar. I used to meet up with a friend to watch the first couple days of March Madness there on our lunch hours when we both worked nearby. I think it was something else for a while but now might be nothing? It's been a while since I was on that block.
Man, thinking about pre-pandemic work/socializing is like remembering another my time on another planet. A planet where I didn't have kids, I wore heels every day, I sometimes drank beer at noon on a work day, and I put substantial effort into following sports because that's just how much mental bandwidth I had at the time. Things are... different now. |
I think you're thinking of "Maddy's" Tap Room at 13th and L. But Harry's was a chain of sorts--it had locations at Pentagon City Mall and Dulles Airport. |
And I think it was related to a nicer steakhouse in DC. Sam and Harry’s maybe? Wow. Agree with PP that it seems like a different lifetime ago. |
| I liked Harry’s, but I LOVED Fuego. |
+1 It boggles the mind that Fuego closed but around the corner Mexicali Blues keeps on chugging. |
Harry's had a great brunch! |
I was so sad when willow closed — Nothing like it around here! But yes, we loved Harry’s and Fuego too! |
Agreed. Didn't the Greek place that was replaced by Oz (whyyy?) relocate to McLean? |
| Where was it? Sounds familiar. |

Truly, what is the deal with Mexicali Blues? Do they have a dirt-cheap 50 year lease? |
Queen Bee was my fav. |
Truly, what is the deal with Mexicali Blues? Do they have a dirt-cheap 50 year lease? Mexicali Blues is the second worst restaurant I have ever been to in my life. Stale chips, watery drinks, bland tasteless food, and they serve plain white rice as a side. So weird. Rude service too. I just don’t get it. |
I loved both of those places! Harry's Tap Room was my birthday go-to for a few years. |
| I had my rehearsal dinner there. They were so great to work with and everyone had a great time. Really fond memories of that night. Sad it's closed. |
