Help me find a flowering evergreen

Although deciduous, the leaves on oak-leaf hydrangeas are tenacious and in the DMV a material percentage tend to stay on the bush until they are pushed off by new growth in the spring. Might be worth considering.

In my experience, the colors turn a rust color in the fall, stay for a while, and fall off in the winter. They mostly look like sticks but the bark is somewhat interesting. They’re gorgeous but need a ton of space and are very fast growing.

my hardy gardenia (frostproof) didn't make it through the winter. i've been thinking about buying a wintergreen plant which has edible berries and ok flowers

The only reliably evergreen one in this area is Southern Magnolia.

Our little gem is evergreen
