| I have two kids at Walls and they are not overwhelmed by the amount of work at all. They seem to get a lot of work done at school somehow. They both play sports both for school and outside of school and spend time with friends on a regular basis. I think this also really depends on your kid but from our experience, I would not describe the school as a pressure cooker or feel that it is an extremely competitive environment. |
| Also, don't worry, there is no conspiracy Walls parents have to keep information from you about the amount of work. Just feeling a little done with threads about Walls recently, as summarized perfectly by the initial response to OP's questions by the previous poster. |
With your sense of entitlement, may I respectfully suggest private school is a better fit for you? |
That’s the plan! However, my daughter applied to Walls so I’m curious about the homework load. Btw, your response is a great reminder that DCPS (and many of its families) are all too willing to tolerate poor communication, meh instruction, and abysmal customer service. |
How does asking this question have anything to do with a sense of entitlement? Isn't this a forum set up for questions and discussion? |
yowza. No one is under any obligation to answer on this discussion board, you know that, right? And, a lot of HS aged parents don't read this if they don't have youngers |
+1 Parent of a Walls senior here. Stressed during the last week of college decisions peeked back over here. Send your kid to private school. |
what are you even saying here? |
I'm saying, "send your kid to private school." |
I am starting to feel like Walls parents are jerks. Seriously. |
They are calling you an entitled jerk for demanding that people answer your question. My lord, could you be any less self aware? |
We had a lot of questions answered when we attended the interview and chatted with the student host, including like others say here: it depends on the kid. |
Thanks for answering my question! We asked our student hosts (there were two) before being led upstairs for the Walls interview. I asked here because the students gave two very different answers. |
NP here with a fellow 8th grade applicant. I suspect that’s the accurate answer, and the kids told you that themselves. It depends on the kid. We have one neighbor who says it was a shock to the system for their kid, and another neighbor kid who says “meh, it’s an hour or so”. |
As a general premise I am against the Walls interview process. I will make an exception in this circumstance because it gives them an opportunity to meet parents like you...and make sure they don't get in. |
