Walls parents how much homework?

Is it a pressure cooker atmosphere? Are kids competitive there? Congrats on the college admissions cycle. The kids there did great!

This is a DCUM Rorschach test:

A. There is no homework at all as a consequence of elimination of the testing requirement and admission is a beauty contest.
B. There is too much homework. Larla is emotionally taxed by having to do homework. I read a study in "UMC White People Monthly" that said homework was unhealthy and no kid should ever do homework.
C. There is homework in some classes. It varies, as does how much of it needs to be done at home based on the individual kid's aptitude and time management skill set. Some of it is busy work. Some of it is appropriately targeted to learning and developing skills. For a DCPS public school it seems about right to me.
D. BASIS sucks!

I would like to know also...and yes I realize it will vary. But is a typical load 1-2 hours a night? More?

Thank you for the laugh!!!

Honestly though, C. is clearly the answer.

C and depends on the student's courses and grade level. The (unfortunate, in my opinion) norm is to go from 1 AP in 10th grade, to up to 5 APs 11th grade. Just like a college course, 3-6 hours of HW per week for each AP course.

If you have to ask, your kid isn’t ready.

Respectfully disagree! I feel confident, as does my kid, that he can handle it. It is a question of fit and if a larger than average portion of his "free" time should be spent on school work. Completely kid dependent, but mine is very sports focused and also likes downtime with friends. Walls is amazing but trying to keep all parts of his life in place, academics included. Also not worrying too much about any of it until the end of the month when we know what options even are!

You are not a bright human, PP. You have BASIS issues that require professional help. I can't believe I have to explain the joke to you, but...The humor in choice D comes from the fact that it has nothing to do with homework at Walls. The joke is that DCUM cannot have a civil conversation about anything without it becoming about BASIS and that some people (like you, PP) are so fixated you can't get out of your own way. The joke was not about whether people who think BASIS is satan's child are right or wrong, it was about BASIS fixation being regularly misplaced. But you couldn't help yourself.

Wait! Maybe this wasn't you proving the case and feeling like you had to defend people whose hatred for BASIS pervades all other thoughts. Maybe this wasn't you proving the point. Maybe his was performance art!!! Well played, PP. Well played.

Yes, can someone please answer this very basic question? It’s strange that no one has bothered to answer yet. What’s going on at Walls regarding homework?!?
