The advantage in subbing is making yourself familiar to principals and teachers (who may be on the interview teams) and to get to see how different schools are run. I would have chosen to be be at my current school if I had subbed there prior. |
^Would NOT have chosen. |
APS is having a job fair March 25.

Some of the requirements are a little challenging to those who may apply. I’m hearing Lots of stay at home Moms are willing to go sub but you need three professional references. You can’t even submit your application without including them. Unfortunately that’s not possible for some. Do you want their boss from 10 years ago to remember enough for a reference so I can go hang out in the kindergarten classroom? |
It's two, written within the last year. |
The online application makes you list 3 or you cant submit. |
This would be too late at our school. Hiring would be complete by then. |
I am a SAHM who subs. I put a teacher I volunteer for, our preschool director (for whom I subbed), and one former boss I stayed in touch with (who they did not call.) AFAIK, they only called the preschool director. |
Yeah the problem is CURRENTLY that’s not possible. I was here when schools worked too. It probably was moderately enjoyable then. Now, omg, the kids run everything and we can barely get subs. This is high school, maybe elementary is different. |
Even in the last couple years? We aren’t done hiring for this year yet! |
There are no more consequences in school and the secondary kids know it. They can cut class as much as they want with no consequences to their grades and can vape and do drugs in the bathroom or hallways. People, including parents, don't realize how bad it is right now. Literally have had students curse teachers out with no repercussions. |
Usually jobs aren't posted much until after the budget is approved, but LCPS is posting TONS of jobs already. They also have a hiring fair coming up. |
APS posted a ton today! |
