When do Loudoun and Arlington start posting teaching positions for next year?

I'm graduating in May and starting to look for a job.

TY.

I would suggest signing up to sub now. There’s lots of need in May/June and it’s a good way to see which schools you like and get hired. We’ve hired many former subs

+1 to this.
There’s a massive sub shortage everywhere, it seems. Would give you some experience, plus an idea of what schools/systems you would prefer.

Typically around April. Don’t worry, as one of the few new teachers trying to come into this system, you will absolutely a job. But good luck to you.

No don’t do this. If you sub first your experience will be so miserable you’ll never apply to teach and we need you.

As a sub, I think OP should sign up now and at least dabble in it.

There are definitely some schools that I would never, ever sub for again. And others that made me feel welcome and supported. It's a good way to get to know some of the staff and figure out where you may be a better fit.

Subbing (especially long term subbing in elementary) can be very hard, but you'll have more resources as a legit teacher (and be paid more, with benefits).

OP why are you interested in Loudon and Arlington over nearby Alexandria and Fairfax?

Which schools were your favorite?

Some jobs are posted now but the bulk of next year’s jobs will be posted after the budget is approved.

+1 you learn a lot about a school from the front office staff and how people greet/help you in the hallways

This is funny, but subbing is actually what made me want to go into teaching.

That's not for me to tell you, but for you to find out. Different personalities will also fit in at different places.

+1 If you find enjoyment in subbing you’ll probably like teaching

We had an excellent long term sub in our building for a while. She went back to school, got her degree, and got a teaching job in a nearby district this past year. She absolutely hates it. HATES. Her spouse is loaded and they don't need the money. She'll finish the year and then she's done.
