I desperately need my dad’s help but struggle to accept his help

Some parents can be sort of emotionally unavailable even when physically available. It's great he is at least physically available. Sounds like he may have a quirky personality. Just don't internalize it like it's about you, or you can make it better. Try to see him for what he can offer. Good luck!

Op here. I know I should just appreciate him for who he is but he’s the only family I have and so I think I’m wanting him to fill a huge void. I want him to validate me. Sometimes I’m not even sure if he likes me.



Only you can validate you. Your happiness is up to you. Get some in-depth counselling and stop whining.
