| Take a look at benchmade modern. It is pricier, but it is custom made in the US and they are super high quality. They also have pretty good discounts if you sign up for their email. |
The Macy's furniture store at Montgomery Mall carries it. Go, sit on it, pick out fabric of choice. If you get it in-store you're not limited to the standard colors and can get any fabric you want. Ours is very comfortable. We don't let the kids eat on it. |

| We’ve had good luck with La-z-Boy sofas. Not the cheesy recliner ones, there are a lot of other styles. |

Seriously check out What A Room, they have very customizable couches and are amazing quality

Depending on how picky you are, find stores that sell solid US made sofas and buy a floor sample. We got a lovely white transitional Wesley Hall 3-seater with all bells and whistles (down wrapped foam pillows) for $3K in brand new condition, would've retailed for $5-6K.
At a minimum go to Greenfront and see if something they have suits you. They won't have many super-mod DWR style sofas (though there will be a few), but they will have well made pieces at a great price off the floor. I'd much rather this route over the many online sofa retailers unless you have some very constrained design opinions. |

Floor sample from a NC maker of superior quality. I have both leather and velvet couches from this store. You can drive to one of their showrooms if you want to customize. They're so comfortable, and 1000 times better than the big chains. The Cannes 100% cotton velvet fabric is high end, durable and has a great touch and sheen. If your budget is $3-4k go down to Hickory NC and get something from there. They do a lot of the custom upholstery for interior designers. |

I find most sofas uncomfortable for any length of time, no matter how nice they look. They just don't provide the same support as many chairs.
Stressless brand sofas are ergonomic and comfortable, by their style is singular. |
| Basset, Lazy Boy, Macy's, or Ikea. I did extensive shopping a few years ago and those were the finalists (Ikea made the list for immediate availability, not style). We got Basset. |
| I’d either go to ikea and get something surprisingly durable for the price or go high end. Most everything in between is high priced junk. A 2k sofa will look like hell in 5 years. |

Macy's Radley
Ikea |
We bought a Radley sectional from Macy's 3 or 4 years ago. It is super comfortable and still looks and feels great in the oatmeal color. We don't let our dog sit on it and don't have small children, but it spot cleans easily. We are very happy with it, except - it is not made for short people. Two family members are 5 feet and 5-2 and neither one can sit with their feet on the ground without pillows behind them. I'm 5-5 and didn't notice this when I bought it. Probably should have looked for something less deep, but that's just me and my less than tall family. |

-Costco...our couch was reasonably priced, looks great, delivered right away and had help up nicely so far |
NP - Have you bought their mattress or office chair? are they any good? |
