Is that what’s trending?

+1
Sidwell did not do itself any favors with the parents stalking the college counselors and badmouthing other students to give theirs an advantage, the staff member who had an affair with a parent, the lawsuit from the Black student who said she was discriminated against. FWIW I read she's doing really well after having gone to an Ivy.

I still think it's a great school but this stuff is what you find when you search for information about the school.

This came up a little in the thread about car magnets. I do think that many settings I would be embarrassed to say my child is at a private known to be expensive.

GDS is trickier than the rest because the neighborhood traffic controversy and because of how it has been targeted by conservatives. It's a great school but I can see how you wouldn't want to advertise it sometimes.

No OP. You sound like a desperate striver. Try not to worry about what other people think. Live your own life and find a hobby to better occupy your time.

I admit that I am a bit embarrassed. Not of our kids school which I think is amazing, but it’s very privileged isn’t it, to be able to send multiple kids to private school. I don’t wear my engagement ring anymore either. Lots of people lost a lot during Covid and sometimes I do feel a little self conscious saying where my kids go to school. My husband tries to avoid saying if possible

I used to have a kid that was at Sidwell and I found it deeply embarrassing to have to admit this in many/most of the social/professional circles I am in.

Occasionally I would be with a group of strivers that were either ignoring or dismissive of me, then it was extremely satisfying to say it.

Wow you are stupid.

OP just stop trolling\

No one is embarrassed because they go to a better school

Now if you tell me your kids goes to Liberty or one of the Mormon BYU off shoots and gets a general college diploma then yeah that is embarrassing.

I don't understand the backlash to this post. I think there's definitely a tension if you meet a conservative person and mention GDS.

If you’re liberal and full pay it can be a bit embarrassing to admit your kids are not in public.

Our next door neighbor is a leading light of the Federalist Society. Our kids go to GDS. No tension. People are not one-dimensional in real life.

Do unto others, dude. Why such bizarre animosity? What if people talked sh*t about your kid's school? Oh, and as a Tenley resident, they did not piss off the neighborhood, btw. Just five anc members

OP said a Big 3 so wasn’t GDS.

lol, babe. perhaps if you keep saying it over and over on dcum it will one day be true. keep it up, tho. it's entertaining.

Conservatives should be embarrassed. They are the ones banning books for public school kids. Are you MAGA OP?

Literally no one from out of this area has heard of any of the private schools besides Sidwell. Or maybe they have heard of a school or two but have no sense whether it’s top tier or whatever. Honestly whenever I hear of someone who sends kids to private school in another city, I just think “wealthy” and that’s it. It’s not some big identity thing.
