Where Can A 91 GPA Student From St. Alban's Go?

Great boy, independent research, high level athlete but didn’t want to play in college. But he couldn’t be happier at his college right now. Just need to find the place that really wants your son and he should be happy!

All privates are different. Def look for STA-specific stats and as others have said, rely on college office.

STA uses naviance and it includes data from last year (I don’t believe current class is part, so to don’t know where other kids are playing from same class). They don’t plot your kid - so you just do it mentally.

You only have access in college office, which I thought was plenty. I didn’t need to obsess over the data and my son could make an appt and view whenever he wanted.

College process seemed as rational as could be expected for something that feels highly unpredictable.

Are Ivies/Stanford/Duke realistic for him, or should he aim lower?

Also, what GPA is usually cum laude?

Sweetheart, having a parent as neurotic as you, no matter where your son goes to college, he will return to live in your basement after graduation.

OP,
is he legacy? With those scores + GPA, a legacy has been decisive for ivy admits.

OP, what is a 91 in ordinary 4-scale GPA? if this is a 3.6 to 3.7, he will have chance at the Ivies.

We know of a boy in our neighborhood with 3.4 + 1500 no EC or sports who was admitted - double parent legacy (and I think also grandparent legacy) at one of the HYP.

Only legacies with that GPA. You should still aim high.

This. GPA and legacy matters.

That is just about exactly my STA kid's profile. Ivies/Stanford/MIT are not realistic without a hook. ED and full-pay, your son is a shoo-in at Chicago (special relationship there) and has a chance at Duke, as well as Hopkins, Northwestern, WUSTL, Vandy, Rice. (My kid is at one of those.)

This is such an odd Q for this forum.

If you really do go to STA then you know the answer to that question. The counselor gives parents and the boys a very detailed look at the answers to the question.

Harvard, Stanford would be a reach. Other Ivies depends on which one. Duke sure.

When we saw that data it was all over the place and that's because no one tells you if someone is legacy athlete or wunderkind.
Low scorers were accepted over high scorers in many cases.

If OP has legacy this can swing things. If OP's son has those stats PLUS an EC or an invention or some other thing, even without legacy could do (medium odds).
