ACPS and School Board members have been very clear that they will affirm gender and protect kids from parents. They made an very official statement that the Mayor and members of city council endorsed too. Are you saying that they aren't really doing this? Have they back tracked because of the lawsuits that are starting to pop up? |
No they pay a "policy revision committee" in central office to go through and eliminate gender-affirming language from ACPS policies, yet there were 10 (TEN!) arrests at the high school in a 28 day month. Ask your kids about the photo of the contract security guard smoking a joint during school outside the loading dock. There is a massive priority problem. It is truly becoming Lord of the Flies esque - yet with 4500 Piggies, Jacks, and Ralphs. |
Clarifying the "eliminating gender-affirming language" means to rid policies of terms like "girl, boy, mother, and father".... |
Academics are at the very bottom of the priorities. Cushy, high paying jobs at central office are #1. Teachers are also pretty low in the priority list. |
I mean, I am fine with gender-affirming language being removed, but I would have been happy to volunteer to take care of that for them so that they could put resources towards safety issues. |
Truth. |
A Monday in ACPS - handgun at Minnie Howard

Another day at ACHS. Kid was slashed in the face. |
OMG. Which school? |
the high school. The non-rapey one. |
And a massive fight at GW today. |
I'm not aware of this (my child is at a friend's house). However, I will say that I am aware of multiple situations where my child's teachers have been absent and there has been no sub. If middle schoolers are not supervised, even if many of them are going to handle it ok most of the time, there are going to be situations like this that happen. |
Have you seen the video? It was in the cafeteria. |
No, but, although I dislike the idea of fights in the cafeteria, and have concern about it, I am more concerned about large classes of kids being left to their own devices with zero adult supervision. |
I don't think either should be dismissed. They are both really bad. How often are kids left unsupervised in classrooms? That's insanity and a liability. |
