This is where I fall on the question. Going from $170k to $205K but having to wear a suit and commute a total of an hour to an hour and a half round trip each day? No thanks. After taxes, commuting costs, and dry cleaning, you're not clearing that much extra money.

I might consider it if I could double my salary, but not for the increase you're talking about.

Sign of inflexibility at the top and image is more important than delivery f a product. Wonder is this is an organization that will be around for long with the inability to have more flexibility.

NOT worth it IMO.

Not worth it for me.

Hang the suit in your office. Change clothes there.
You will be given an office, won't you?

Small 200 person company where CEO believes zero remote work. Clients come to office and he wants you in suits. I also was told management team is a lot of in person meetings.

I used to be a big in person type person. But I have not stepped foot in an office in three years.

Oddly it is the suit thing that bugs me most. I used to hate a suit as after work or even lunch in a suit in DC in August?

Also everyone at same time will be hard. I kinda start work between 7-930am and end between 4:30 pm and 730 pm. Meaning I flex my schedule around. The stress of fighting beltway traffic.

I think I will ask for 50k more if not I won’t do it. Sounds like a pain.

The requirements are a symptom of a problematic culture where leadership doesn't trust staff. I'd walk for that reason, not because I hate suits or office time.

+1 to all the above. Sounds like performing for work vs performing at work is what they want. Nobody needs that bs these days.

Why did you capitalize “Suit Requirement?”

Agree. Having some autonomy and control over where, when and how you do your job is worth a lot after we’ve learned it can be done differently over the past 3 years. Sounds like the particular culture of this company may not be a good fit. For me, having no commute and increased flexibility with remote work is worth a lot.

OP, can we switch jobs? The culture in my office is so casual that people come to work in pajamas. I love being dressed up and wearing a suit to work.
I’m feeling out of place. I would move to your 5 days a week with a suit job for no salary increase.

Did you accept this job?

I don’t think this is a love match. Keep looking.

For me, that isn’t enough of a raise to commute during rush hour and dress up. Maybe if the job was particularly interesting or a good stepping stone…
