Then you go straight, make a u turn and get in line behind the people who are turning right. |
| So frustrating. Right if way is not the same as courtesy. |
This sounds like the Kensington Starbucks! |
I agree so very hard. People think they're being sweet but they're actually putting everyone in danger. Predictable driving behavior is safe driving behavior. |
This is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. I recently took a defensive driving course that involved the state police and they would disagree with you. You should always yield the right of way. Not doing so is a cause of accidents. However, you should NOT expect that other drivers will yield the right of way. |

Zipper and alternate. If the person turning left has been doing the right thing and waiting and not clogging a crosswalk into the place, then let them go if you just pulled up in the opposing side, even if you technically have the right of way. Don't be a dick.
|
You are misusing the term or simply misunderstanding. The person with the right of way should proceed. Always. Doing otherwise makes the entire interaction unpredictable for every other driver and creates danger. Your understanding would essentially mean that the rules of the road should ALWAYS be violated. Which is, obviously nonsense. |
In other words: you should yield TO the driver with the right of way. That driver should not yield the right of way to you. |
Agree as well. It is not YOUR right of way yield. It is the right of way, and it makes things confusing to yield. If someone's gonna cut you off, sure, yield to avoid an accident. The folks coming from the left can turn at the next light and wait in line. That's what I would do as it's far less stressful. |

OP, is this a school or an imaginary shopping center?
If the former, someone in uniform should be out directly these turns. This happens at a school near me (helps with crosswalk and the cars turning). If it is the latter, then I would follow the whole yield protocol described above. If you happen to be in the left lane hoping for a break I would approach from other direction or go into another entry point. |
| If you are attempting to make a left turn at an intersection, you must yield the right of way to traffic in the opposing lane. |
+100. I hope the person getting this mixed up gets it now. |
|
Eventually it will clear or just loop around to get into the right turn lane. |
Love this! |
