I recently took a defensive driving course that involved the state police and they would disagree with you. You should always yield the right of way. Not doing so is a cause of accidents. However, you should NOT expect that other drivers will yield the right of way.[/quote] You are misusing the term or simply misunderstanding. The person with the right of way should proceed. Always. Doing otherwise makes the entire interaction unpredictable for every other driver and creates danger. Your understanding would essentially mean that the rules of the road should ALWAYS be violated. Which is, obviously nonsense.[/quote]
