I prefer pB. I thought the instructors at B3 were trying way to hard to be inspirational and use therapy speak |
I also want to know the difference! |
Barre 3 is more cardio based. You’ll sweat. The instructors actually do the workout WITH you unlike pure barre. It’s all beat driven and feels like a dance class but in a fun not intimidating way. They also made me feel okay with modifying in a way pure barre didn’t. To each his own but pure barre felt snobby and barre3 felt like home. |
I love purebarre and even will do it when I am on vacation if it works out with my schedule. I love that I can join a class in another city seamlessly. And, they are always welcoming, not snobby at all! |
Also a B3 fan but it’s really personal preference. It’s been a long time since I did PureBarre so maybe it’s a little different now but from what I remember it was all small movements and a whole lot of techno beats lol.
B3 incorporates more cardio as PP mentioned and generally has bigger range movements. They also now have strength classes which I love- has really encouraged me to start using heavier weights which I was previously intimidated by. Instructors are great and offer a ton of modifications and extra pushes so you can feel successful no matter where you’re at. It’s true some of the instructors can be “inspirational” but it varies and I do a lot of yoga too so it doesn’t bother me ![]() |
Keep at it if you like it! When I first started, I couldn't hold a plank for long, do a roll-up without using my hands, or get through standing exercises without breaking form often. It takes time and consistency, but eventually you'll gain strength and really see differences in how you look and feel. I'm now over 800 classes in, and I'm so glad that I stuck with it. I'm 56, as fit as I've ever been, and I've had no injuries six years in. |
Two years of semi consistently going to PB 2 or 3 times a week and I now have abs! It feels like a miracle. |
Would you recommend either for someone who’s out of shape with a lot of core weakness? |
