I’d identify if there is a heavy pot culture at his school, it’s just his friend circle, or if it’s him seeking out that with new friendships that are into that.

They are so heavily influenced by peers that I’d consider a school move, if it’s more pervasive or his social circle. If it’s just him, changing his influence by keeping him busier with sports or restricting access to certain friends could work.

It's not legal in most states LOL

And it's not legal for anyone under 21 in any state.

Most west and NE states, yes it is. I guess you are right overall though (20?).

Alcohol isn’t neither, but that never stopped anyone I knew at 16.

Pulling from private school might be an excellent idea, especially if he is in the "popular" group. Most private school kids have money and easier access to drugs.

I think it’s an over reaction. My kid admitted to us he tried it a couple of times at public school when he was a freshman. I think you need to keep talking about things. I don’t have the answers, I’m just trying to keep communication open. We keep trying to fill his time with healthy options like encouraging more sports rather than threatening to pull them.

How are his grades? Does he keep focus at school? Activities? If yes, then I really wouldn't about a little bit of pot. Of course, keep talking to him, be disappointed externally but internally, I don't think this is a big deal.

You need to unpack why he’s using and who’s supplying him.

Pervasive issue in DMV beginning in middle school and continuing in high school. Few will face this. Carts are laced and kids are paying the price.
