Yes, I remembered that too, from GOMI because a local mom called out what a hypocrite she was for exploiting her child to the point of them being recognized by strangers at the playground but then being all private about this. I think the conclusion was that one of her children was autistic and why did she feel that she had to hide that when she was showing everything else about them? Presumably because it didn't fit her perfect life narrative, which is gross. https://gomiblog.com/cup-of-jo-will-vagueblog-about-her-struggles/

NP. I remember this too and have the same reaction.

I can’t stand the blog, the writing, and frankly the snobbery, smugness and gross immaturity of either Jo or Alex. PP up thread who commented on how quirky! cute! their divorce announcement was with a fellow Brooklyn moron dad saying “processing…processing…” ugh. Yup. I live in a similar neighborhood and the aren’t-we-smart? But also like aware and cool but total “shy dorks” BS is so tiresome. It’s kind of too bad they split because they seem really well matched for these reasons.

This writing about the aren’t we smart, “shy dorks” stuff being BS and tiresome is SO spot on … lord I know so many creative bookish types like this and ugh.

I remember that too. She teased it and then never circled back. Those were my two hypotheses, as well. Either might be hard in a family.

Still sticking with the quirky upbeat take on her divorce:

I don’t get - but never have - the idea that there is any depth, soul, or openness to anything on her site or her writing by her or any contributors. I mean, even ^^^ that discussion is shallow as hell, more shallow than a woman talking about finding plus-sized stuff on The Mom Edit. And I’ve been in Brooklyn a long time now, raising a young child, married. It’s just such a nothing to me since I don’t find the spend money mama! content that compelling.

Have always found her incredibly bland and not worth following but many seem to disagree.

I agree, and I am a mom in her neighborhood with kids similar ages and I don’t know anyone who has any respect for her. She’s sold out her entire life for profit, and nothing she writes is particularly interesting or profound.

Handful of naysayers here but she’s got loads of devoted followers.

Instagram/blogger fame is not easy on marriages.

It's so true. How many of the OG "lifestyle bloggers" are still married???

Yes - I just went down this rabbit hole. I saw this point and I couldn't remember if I knew her sister IRL or if her sister was famous.

This is why I feel like I am so over them all! It turns out none of them have it all more together than I do!

They are twins. More surprised that one turned out to be a doctor while the other became a blogger albeit very successful

I don’t know. I may be reading into it but the whole different rules/different houses and needing a “reset” read a bit more loaded to me after accounting for whatever social media gloss.

As to her content, I did do well off some movie/TV show recommendations and she often linked to funny things in the have a nice weekend post. Most of the rest I did not read.

I think she plays really well to the "romanticize your own life" crowd. She kind of made that a thing before it more recently became an actual thing. It doesn't really appeal to me, but I find her inoffensive and have nothing negative to say. Good for her for making her "isn't ___ dreamy" perspective into a real, life-sustaining career.

I appreciate what's she's shared about the divorce. That's such a hard line, to share and not tell others' story to any inappropriate extent. I think she's done it well, so far.
