My cousin was a visiting prof at Miami a few years back and lived in Coconut Grove. It's a fun neighborhood, but a bit of a walk from the Miami campus -- and not scenic. By the time you get there, you'll probably have to turn around to meet your kids after the tour (most campus tours aren't more than an hour) I'd probably just chill while you wait out the tour. The campus is pretty, as others have noted. If I'm remembering correctly, there's a pretty quad by the law school. |

My son is there. The neighborhood is amazing - similar to Bethesda (Coral Gables) great restaurants, shops, safe, etc
Miami is certainly fun but the kids at Miami are smart and motivated. As my son says- the fact that there’s something fun to do all the time means you can pick or choose when it works for you, rather than feeling a ton of pressure to go to “the” party or event. Having beaches nearby has been a good thing, when you need to relax, bring some work to do and get a change of scenery. The sunshine and great food available has definitely helped his mood and health too. The Farmers market on campus is incredible |
Not always. If Greek living in house pretty reasonable. There are off campus houses that end up less than dorms too. Fancy apartments are expensive but there are other options |
