I can’t believe fcps doesn’t have a calendar yet

Wrong. The extra time is specifically so the two board members who do NOT want a two week break can try to alter the survey feedback to make it go their way. This is why they keep harassing people with emails advertising that they've extended the survey deadline.

Is this the two week winter break? I don’t want it either.

An overwhelming majority do want the two week winter break, according to the most recent survey.

No one wants this school board to create a 3 year calendar.

No one really wants them to create next year's calendar, but we are stuck with them through November.

What they need to do is give us something now to get us through the 23/24 year, then stop. Just stop.

Don't ruin another calendar year. Leave it for the next school board. Hopefully, it will contain a lot of new members and have a tiny shred of competency.

+1 truth. They are going to be voted out but we will be stuck with their horrific calendar. Hell no.

Well, I'm not voting them out. And, also, regardless, you best make your peace with the situation. It is what it is.

What are you talking about, tongue emoji? Here are the survey results. The purple and blue have the two week winter break. Orange and green have the shorter winter break. People clearly like the two week winter break, and dlslike the shorter winter break.

The people who responded to the original survey and are willing to share their personal email and kids school have said they want a 2 week break. A large percentage of the people did not respond to the first survey and few people are responding to the new survey because you have to identify yourself and there is no room for actual comments.

OP: You know when this year ends and you have a good idea when school will start. You have plenty of time to book your camps and vacations for this summer. Another few weeks to announce Winter Break is not likely to cause you much planning head ache.

This. I’m so pissed that this terrible school board is trying to leave a three year crap calendar on their way out. They know we’re down with them and are trying to pass this crap in haste

I agree that this smacks of desperation on the part of the School Board, but is there any reason why a future School Board couldn't just change it later?

The current board can pass a 3 year calendar if they want, but the next School Board might actually have some common sense and return to sanity.

I was thinking that too. The new school board could make changes to any existing calendar before the start of the school year I bet.

Exactly. There's no certainty that this collection of batsh*t crazies gets voted out, but this calendar isn't "law". It's a "suggestion" that the new board can go along with or rework.

At least all options out there seem to either have summer break end on Aug 20 or Aug 27. It‘s still rather late notice, especially booking international flights for the July window. RIP

I enjoyed the statistics in the slides where they compare their drafts to all the neighboring counties‘ schedules… How is such a statistic even possible? Well, all other counties released their plan weeks ago!

That two week winter break is going to cost me about $1000 so, no, I don't want it either.

Just book your flights assuming an 8/21 start date, obviously.

All I care about is that they NOT tie Easter to spring break and instead tie it to quarter end so the kids get a week and a half off all at once. But the school board is too dumb to even think about doing that.

The goal isn’t to align it to Easter, the goal is to align it to the other counties’ calendar.
