I can’t believe fcps doesn’t have a calendar yet

Trying to figure out camp and vacations. So annoying. Plus my kids are starting middle and high school so don’t want to miss open house the week prior.

Just assume two weeks before Labor Day and don’t plan a vacation at the end of August. Why is this hard?

It's hard when you have to submit vacation requests months ahead of time for your job, coordinate the vacation approval week for your spouse's job, and coordinate summer camp schedule which often end a few weeks before school starts which is why families sometimes schedule vacation weeks the couple of weeks before school starts. It's ridiculous that there's no FCPS calendar despite the numerous surveys and meetings.

Because equity or... something.

If your HS child will be doing Fall Sports, I would recommend you are in town July 31 forward. Between tryouts and practices, they do start that early.

For MS, the Open House is usually the Wed or Th before school starts if I remember correctly. I'm sure others will correct me if that's wrong!!

This is the trade off for getting a three year calendar. The planning process takes longer, especially the first time.

They need to make sure the dates don't align with religious or American holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas

No one wants this school board to create a 3 year calendar.

No one really wants them to create next year's calendar, but we are stuck with them through November.

What they need to do is give us something now to get us through the 23/24 year, then stop. Just stop.

Don't ruin another calendar year. Leave it for the next school board. Hopefully, it will contain a lot of new members and have a tiny shred of competency.

You can still do all that. I don’t get it. Just don’t do any vacations after August 13 and it doesn’t matter if they are off by a week.

+1 truth. They are going to be voted out but we will be stuck with their horrific calendar. Hell no.

Wrong. The extra time is specifically so the two board members who do NOT want a two week break can try to alter the survey feedback to make it go their way. This is why they keep harassing people with emails advertising that they've extended the survey deadline.

No need to assume. It's already known. The calendar that starts one week before Labor day has already been tossed. We will be starting two weeks beforehand. The only thing up in the air is the two week break. That's the sticking point with two board members not wanting it and the rest do.
