It seems that dynamic is now changing, so the question is why? What are local officials and schools failing to do that they did in the past that gave people comfort in the safety of the schools?

Few or no consequences. Need a strong behavior plan with appropriate rewards and consequences. Opportunities for afternoon volunteer work, interesting activities, and study hall sessions as well. Keep everyone busy!

Maybe we just need a really big restorative justice circle

Agree with you that few or no consequences are a huge problem that needs to be revised. However, it doesn't sound like this would address any issues around the arrest of the trespasser or any "revenge" for his arrest since the school/PD said it was not an APS student. Who knows if the trespasser is even an Arlington resident.

What are you talking about? The trespasser is an APS student, just not at Wakefield! And he was arrested at his home... IN ARLINGTON.

And trespasser was 18 but student at Langston / old New Directions.

Principal’s email tonight was reassuring - going to do best to send my kid to Wake tomorrow Tuesday

Sounds like some consequences

"The students involved have been identified and have received disciplinary action, including immediate removal from school grounds and prohibition from returning to Wakefield."
