Principal sent an email...some thugs are planning to shoot up the school in revenge for the arrest of the ski mask guy |
How about posting the text of the email instead of this inflammatory supposed summary? If it’s an email, it shouldn’t be hard to copy and paste. |
NP here. This is what we received:
Dear Wakefield Families: We are aware of concerning social media posts circulating. The Arlington County Police Department (ACPD) and APS Safety and Security staff have been alerted and are investigating. Out of an abundance of caution, the ACPD will provide increased patrols around Wakefield tomorrow including at arrival and dismissal. The safety and security of our students and staff is our priority and we will keep you informed of any developments as we are able. I understand this continues to pose a significant strain on our wellbeing as a community. We will have additional counseling support available tomorrow and will structure our day to incorporate community circle opportunities for students to share their thoughts and feelings if they need assistance. |
Who is ski mask guy? |
The intruder who they thought was on school grounds Thursday. He was arrested Friday. |
That is not even what the email said , why would you claim that? These are common response emails to vague threats on social media, schools send them out all the time and nothing ever comes of them. It’s to let you know they’re on top of things. |
My kid was scared to go. Didn’t force it. What did other parents do? Kids were talking and filling in blanks. |
I'm so sorry ![]() I'm not a Wakefield parent, but we are all in the same community. This does not end at one school's doors. |
My friends sent their kids. Figure they would be safer today than any other day since everyone is on alert and kid who.made threat was IDd but I would go with what kids felt comfortable with. |
Any other Wakefield parents commenting on sending kids or not? I don’t want to post on Arlnow |
We sent our kids. |
My kid did not go. |
Everyone has known that South Arlington and nearby areas in Fairfax have had major gang issues for years. However, it's generally been understood that the schools were safe spaces for both kids from the communities with the gangs and other communities feeding into those schools as well.
It seems that dynamic is now changing, so the question is why? What are local officials and schools failing to do that they did in the past that gave people comfort in the safety of the schools? |
Few or no consequences. Need a strong behavior plan with appropriate rewards and consequences. Opportunities for afternoon volunteer work, interesting activities, and study hall sessions as well. Keep everyone busy! |
