Except it is a controlled substance which means the DEA is a part of the process. |
| I haven’t had a problem filling the generic at the Walmarts in DC. |
| My local giant has had all the meds I’ve needed recently when everyone else has been out. It’s going to take a lot of calling around. |
Supply and demand is exactly the problem. The FDA has placed limits on the amount that can be manufactured, but now more people have prescriptions and they haven’t increased the limit, so there isn’t enough to go around and a subset of people have to be without their prescribed medication at all times. They would never let this happen with a medication for a physical disorder, but since it’s just mental health/intellectual disability they don’t care. |
It is unacceptable. Why isn't there more outrage? |
and I believe that precludes it from being mail ordered so you can forget that possibility. |
It's actually the DEA. They announced last week that they will not be increasing manufacturing quotas, despite the shortage, so this will not be getting any better any time soon. Time to try ritalin or concerta instead. |
Honestly…unmedicated people with adhd and parents of unmedicated kids with adhd don’t have time for outrage. We’re too busy calling pharmacies and trying to keep our sht together. |
|
I have been calling pharmacies for a week. As soon as I find stock, I call my dr and have them send the rx there. By the time they do that (same or next day), it’s gone.
Is there an easier way? Are paper prescriptions still a thing? It would be so much easier to walk it in there myself. |
| I've had no issues getting it at my local CVS (in DC). But I only take 10 mg and the generic. |
I take 20xr and generic and brand are out everywhere. I found it at one dc cvs yesterday but it was apparently gone before they filled mine. |
| I stopped taking mine. Honestly, the barrier to remembering to call multiple places and be on hold and ask for it and then somehow be treated like a meth head by half these pharmacies for asking for a medication you have a prescription for is too much executive functioning on a person dealing with ADHD. My brain just gets overwhelmed and I’m not doing it anymore. If it’s going to be this consistently hard to get a simple medication, it’s not going to be the medication for me. It’s been like 5 months of this. |
