I wonder whether the PD knows who the actual dealing individuals or groups are - who is selling this at school, who's coming to school with this.

From Arlington Police, just released:

ARLINGTON, Va. – The Arlington County Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division is investigating an apparent drug overdose at Wakefield High School.

OP, I’m glad you asked what you can do. I’m attending the Arlington narcan training tomorrow and will apparently get narcan I will be able to use if needed in the future.

PP complaining that Wakefield cancelled sporting events tonight, please know that all Wakefield students were held in their first class of the day until they were dismissed shortly after 12. One of my kids had a teacher say this was the longest he’d been in a classroom since 9/11. They’re in no shape to hold athletic events tonight — this was the right call.

Senior Night will be rescheduled. Maybe you could take a minute tonight and say a prayer for these kids. Please read the update above. One child was transported and four others were evaluated.

+1

There is a child fighting for their life, a friend and classmate. Kids are in no shape to play a sport to appease Marshall parents.

Here’s the link with details about how to request free narcan (if you are a county resident, I think):

This is crazy.

What can we do to combat this growing opioid epidemic? DS says the use by students isn't even secret. There are always drug deals happening or drugs being taken when he walks into the bathrooms.

One thing you can do if you have teens is keep Narcan on you.

Yep- why werent they monitoring almost legal adult in the bathrooms! <sarcasm>

NP totally agree, why aren't the teachers teaching their kids about the dangers of (prescription or non) drug use?!

I get that this is sarcasm, but there is a drug counselor assigned to Every school and kids are educated about this.

DD had a unit on drugs in MS.

But APS cancelled the sporting events at the school so the game has to be postponed. The family members and friends who arranged their schedules to attend the event got told "tough luck" on short notice.

You've got to be kidding me.

Also, why would a team do senior night at an away game? That makes no sense.

Seems to be quite a bit of fentanyl laced percocets in our local schools. Wakefield today, Culpeper last week, Justice right before that. And I’m sure others that I just haven’t read about but have happened

A narcan trainer said that illicit fentanyl in pills (that kids think are xanax, adderall - which is SUPER concerning given the shortage, etc) are the primary driver of opioid overdoses in minors in NOVA.

Parents, please educate yourselves and your kids- their lives depend on it.

Plan your senior night for a game at Marshall. Get a grip lady. A kid is in the hospital.
