Whole family is on a Chipotle kick and need to get out

Get what you want, but only eat half of it. When I order Chipotle, I get the bowl with brown rice, garlic guajillo steak, black beans, tons of veggies, and then I only eat half of it and save the second half for lunch the next day.

i get a salad with chicken or beef, black beans, no rice or other carbs, no fats, no dressing, salsa, very healthy

I agree with people who make healthy swaps and make 2 meals out of one burrito bowl. Also, I find that I prefer to bring it home and add other veggies in the bowl - finely chopped carrots, lettuce, garlic, cilantro, green onions, cucumber etc - after mixing the contents well.

I actually add so much veggies in it that I am able to get three meal servings from one bowl. It also helps to reduce the sodium content. I use some fresh lemon juice to make it more delightful. My teen athlete adds chopped boiled eggs and additional salsa at home too.

It is horrible for you and FULL of salt.

+1. This forum has become lower class over the years.

Maybe cut back, but there are worse things you could eat, especially if you are resigned to takeout 3 times per week.

I have no trouble eating a whole bowl with brown rice, black beans, chicken, fajita veggies, all the salsas and guacamole. Half of it is not remotely filling for me (and I'm not exactly huge at 114 pounds). I think flour tortillas are gross so I've never tried the burrito.

It's not "horrible," but it's a lot of calories and a lot of sodium to be eating three times a week. I'd cut back to once a week, and have a slow-cooker or super easy and quick meal at home the other nights.

Whoever's not at practice should be starting dinner at home. Or have something in a Crock Pot, or heat up leftovers, or make some omelets, or something that's really really fast. I love Chipotle, but three times a week seems excessive. If you must, use brown rice and skip the sour cream.

Chipotle is great! Yeah it has a lot of sodium but as long as the family doesn’t have blood pressure issues it’s fine. Sodium is not the devil people think it is. Ask for light sour cream and extra fajita veggies.

On another note, it is very expensive.

It's the salt. Not scrimping on the sour cream. Look at all the tasty toppings like the corn salsa (330 mg)

You can swap out all the things people suggest above, and still end up with so much salt. DH has high BP. We stopped going there years ago to avoid the sodium.

Even a bowl with ONLY veggies, brown rice, and beans has 400 mg of sodium.

Now a bowl from above -- veggies, protein, salsa and cheese and you are up to 1570 mg!

The Newport Beach, California-based company agreed to a three-year deferred prosecution agreement (DPA) that will allow it to avoid conviction if it complies with an improved food safety program. Chipotle also agreed to pay the $25 million criminal fine, the largest ever in a food safety case, as part of the DPA.Apr 21, 2020

It's not just once. It's perpetually failing health inspections. E coli, salmonella, norovirus, cross contamination is a regular thing at every place, the meat they use is not of good grade. Passes inspection but not the best considering you pay for good quality meat.

They hire illegal immigrants for kitchen duty. They regularly sexually harass the females working there. Big kitchen turnover but Chipotle does NOT resolve any claims. It's easier to just fire the accuser and the accused. Many waiting to take those spots.

Cleanliness happens only when an inspection is due. They are given a heads up when they will get one.
I wouldn't feed my kids that filthy garbage.

I think all of it is good for growing kids. Btw have you tried their new garlic steak? It’s so good. I’ve been doing a sale with garlic steak or tacos with a lot of lettuce and pico and don’t feel bad

The salad dressing is horribly caloric. Not a huge difference (calorie-wise) to have that than a tortilla.

Eh. What’s the alternative? If it’s something frozen you are popping in the microwave when you get home, I say go for what’s making you happy. Agree with the bowl suggestions. If you can scrap together some type of homemade alternative, give it a go. A huge instant pot of rice, beans and chicken you premade into burritos could be a decent alternative. But no judgement here.
