Not a school any more. If that's allowed, then Beaver College has to go on the list. |
Ha-I am literally watching a commercial for UMGC as I type this |
Princeton and Duke both sound royal, and the campuses look the part to boot |
One of the top schools on my kid’s list, despite the strange name It is reasonably priced even for out of staters and has good programs in the fields she is interested in To be honest, the strange name is part of the appeal |
Is that in Fall River? |

Slippery Rock Rutgers Miami of Ohio, U of California In Pennsylvania, etc. |
I thought that was actually pretty good, namewise. Like University College London or University College Oxford. (Of course umgc is nowhere near these)! I think the switch to UM Global Campus is lame. |
No. It's in Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania. The college is named after the town it is located in. (I'm from the neighboring town - Grove City.) |
This one drives me crazy. It is NOT Miami of Ohio, it is Miami University. It was named after the Miami Indians of Ohio and is older than the University of Miami (the one in Florida.) U of Miami has become more well known and so people tend to call the original Miami, Miami of Ohio. The other one should be called Miami of Florida. |
I always liked saying TUFFFFTSSSS |
Pre-internet, my cousins went to Beaver. They had to change the name after getting blocked. |
