YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT!! OMG the disinformation is hurting my eyes! The only correct thing you said was that "muscle weighs more than fat". Other than that WRONG! Losing weight first, then start lifting weights is backwards. Muscle burns through fat like a match to paper. Without muscle, progress will be slow and painful and will eventually stagnate. You need to work on both, at the same time. As for "ending up stockier" - oy vay...ugh! NO! OP will not be stocky! It is so. so, so, so, hard for women especially to "get stocky" by lifting weights. This is an old, out of date, circa 1985 way of thinking. Enough of that already. Repeat after me: You need to lift weights to burn fat. You need to lift weights to burn fat. You need to lift weights to burn fat. |
While I agree that OP should simultaneously lift and burn fat, it is not true that you NEED to lift weights to burn fat. What you really need is a calorie deficit. Lifting weights will help maintain muscle and in beginners might even cause some gain despite a calorie deficit, but this muscle gain would never outpace the fat loss, so the OP will end up smaller. The risk of looking bulkier is actually there if she does not adjust her diet to lose the extra fat and just adds lifting and gains some muscle. |
