What is Marc Elrich 's political future

I hate him so much

Is he materially dumber than anyone else on the Council? You could say that Elrich is misguided and stubborn, but it would be a mistake to say that he is Amy dumber than the vast majority of CMs. Riemer, for example, was empirically dumb as rocks and his leaving has certainly improved the average.

Mayor Eldrich is probably one of the best that we have had. Personally I do hope that he considers a presidential run in the near future. He had my whole family vote for sure

Elrich has more of a future than Youngkin, Hogan and Bowser

What fascinates me is that he has accomplished more than all haters. It’s funny actually and maybe if they stopped hating they could learn a thing a two.

So??? Biden is 80 and President

I would really be surprised if this is a serious post, as with the other Marc Elrich recent post. In the off chance that it is, I’ll entertain it. And I voted for Elrich including in the primary:

No, Marc Elrich would certainly not run, let alone win, statewide.
Maryland has a huge bench of younger Democratic talent, many candidates of color, who have more broad appeal.

Elrich could barely hang on in MoCo, a left wing stronghold. Do you really think he could appeal anywhere else in the state? That’s like asking if Ilhan Omar could be elected governor of Minnesota.

Also, as much as I like Elrich personally and ideologically, he hasn’t been that great administratively. Not saying he’s as bad as people here say or that others would be any better - I did vote for him- but his biggest problem is he is a micromanager and not a delegator. He would be disastrous as a governor and he’d be useless in Congress. He would be a leftist Marjorie Taylor Greene - not saying he’s dumb and conspiratorial as her but he would be useless on any committees and just argue and not get anything done. He’s a flamethrower. I like him in MoCo because he offsets the developer mafia and he gives a much needed voice for labor here. But his type of governance wouldn’t work anywhere else.

MoCo progressives are out of step with the rest of the state and will never win statewide. And before anyone says “but VanHollen”, VanHollen is a run of the mill replacement level Democrat on every issue.

Van Hollen is so mid and boring hahaha

I hope Elrich runs for Senate
