Anything to rag on MCPS!

If the best they can do is dig up a story from 10 years ago, then MCPS is in good shape. Any county of over a million people is bound to have a few incidents every decade or two.

Would you like the links to the 50 MCPS teachers and staff that have been
arrested for sexually abusing MCPS students since then? You remember
Joynes, Vigna, Bowman, Pineda, Epps, Greenberg, Flemmer, Robinson, Greco,
Yantos and on and on.

You remember that like Picca, Joynes, Pineda and Vigna were all left in
classrooms long after they were known to be sexual predators
. The
Picca scenario didn't stop with him.

Teachers can and have been fired for being creepy when creepy violated the
Code of Conduct. Dozens have been fired for exactly that. But many have
also been left in classrooms when it is known they are sexual predators.
That allowed them to victimize more children.

Thanks to the teachers at Kemp Mill Elementary and the Parents Coalition
for exposing the Picca case years ago.

Because nothing has changed.

Not the OP, but if you have been paying attention, MCPS continues to have issues. It’s worse than the Catholic Church, and parents should be aware of how the system protects pedophiles more than it cares about children.

I don't doubt that any system as large as MCPS has some teachers who shouldn't be there for a wide variety of reasons, but to say it's as bad as the Catholic church with regard to pedophiles is laughable.

Pay attention. See Kurt Shipley over at Whitman. reports for years and they left him there.

Concrete actions have been recommended for YEARS, decades at this point and they still refuse to implement changes. See this link. None of the changes have been implemented. NONE

They’ve driven out too many good teachers to be able to worry about the creepy ones. If the creepy ones touch a kid, then they’ll be out, but grooming behaviors get at most a slap on the wrist. And so the cycle continues.

I'm curious as to the type of person who is dismissive of pedophiles in our children's schools.. smh.

As a teacher it makes me so angry they are so hypocritical. They make us watch videos every year reminding us we are mandatory reporters. Yet, when push comes to shove, MCPS can't do the same and take any action.

MCPS does exactly what the Catholic Church did. Shifts staff around if there are any suspicions. Protects adults more than it protects kids. Hides things under the rug.

This. Why would anyone be defending MCPS in this case?
