What you need to determine your calories is the TDEE not BMR. BMR will vary very little for individuals of the same age, weight and body composition, but TDEE can vary widely depending on activity. That is why some people can eat over 2000 calories and lose weight while someone of the same size can only get 1200. I use my Fitbit to help me determine my maintenance calories as it seems to be pretty close to reality in my case. You can also get the first estimate from an online TDEE calculator and then modify your calorie intake based on the shifts in your weight. |
